Try Something New

Thought for the day:
Never be afraid to try something new

Consider this: a lone amateur built the Ark and it was able to save all of mankind AND all the animals on the land and in the air.  On the other hand, a large group of professionals built the Titanic and, well, you get my drift.

The Wright brothers using their own money succeeded before Samuel Langley, who received a War Department grant of $50,000 and $20,000 from the Smithsonian. Two bicycle guys from Dayton Ohio beat out a real development machine. Somehow that is very satisfying.

To me, that's what makes the various X prizes so much better than big government run programs: Everyone gets to try their crazy ideas and the winner is the one who ends up with the best result, not the one that some central committee decided was the best.
