As I age, I realize that ...

  • I don't need anger management. I need people to stop pissing me off.

  • My people skills are just fine. It's my tolerance of idiots that needs work.

  • I talk to myself because sometimes I need expert advice.

  • Sometimes I roll my eyes out loud.

  • Even duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound!

  • Chocolate comes from cocoa which is a tree, which makes it a plant, which means it's salad....Almost.

These things are pretty funny in my book, but I do wonder why most things like this seem to involve getting more angry/frustrated about things as we get older.

I don't believe that it has to happen that way but I do understand those feelings. After seeing the same ridiculous behavior in people over and over again for decades and reaching a point in one's life where one cares less about what other's think because you are comfortable with who you are, it is easier to to just let people know how you feel.

In the U.S. we sometimes say, "Hey, you kids, get off of my lawn" to conjure up the image of an old man yelling at kids who are unthinkingly trampling on something that he has worked hard to make nice. The kids shouldn't do that, but the old man shouldn't be yelling either. Neither is being very understanding of the other.

In any case, I hope I can continue to be understanding of others and be forgiven when I momentarily slip too far down the, senior citizen, geezer, codger, old coot, cratchity old man scale.
